Temirtas Iskakov

Temirtas Iskakov – architect, researcher and initiator of the Fading TSE platform, which studies, popularizes and preserves the historical and cultural heritage of Kazakhstani cities. Graduate of the Department of Architecture of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU. He received a master's degree in 2016.
Over the years, he worked as an architect and designer in the field of architecture, construction and education – in the companies AS Engineering, SA Architects, the Office of the Commissioner of Serbia Astana EXPO-2017, CEP Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools.
Since 2019, he has been engaged in public and scientific activities in the field of protection of historical and cultural heritage, historical memory and the "right to the city". He founded the urban research platform Fading.TSE, which works with urban communities and implements the initiatives Talking.TSE (education and enlightenment in the field of culture) and Walking.TSE (walking tours and urban tourism). He is a visiting researcher in the projects of the M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University and the K. Akishev Research Institute of Archaeology.
In 2021, he became a TEDxAstana speaker, where he spoke about the importance of addressing the history of the city and the close relationship of urban activism with improving the ecology and architectural appearance of the city. Since 2020, he has been an expert and activist of the initiative group "SOS Taldykol", which fights for the preservation of the Taldykol lake system in Astana. In 2021, SOS.Taldykol was awarded the "Initiative of the Year" award by the Youth Information Service of Kazakhstan.
In 2022, he became a resident of the international art laboratory "Edu-Art 2022 /Re-public of cultural workers: Self-organizing in times of crisis" in Chisinau, Moldova, and Temirtas Iskakov's book "Architecture of Atyrau" was published in Urbanforum Press.
